The fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, celebrates in a big way the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring our independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

The lucky people who have already reserved their Myrtle Beach SC vacation rentals and are in town now will witness a grand display of how coastal Carolinians celebrate the holiday. Up and down the beach front you'll see firework displays. Some towns, like Murrells Inlet, will be having their annual parade, while others like the Market Common in Myrtle Beach, an Italian Festival followed by fireworks.

Myrtle Beach
    •    Broadway at the Beach, between 21st and 29th Ave North on U.S. 17 Bypass, fireworks start at 10 p.m.
    •    Second Avenue Pier, 110 N. Ocean Blvd., fireworks start at 9:30 p.m
    •    BB&T Coastal Field, 1251 21st Avenue North, fireworks following the Pelicans baseball game
    •    The Market Common, Valor Park on Farrow Parkway, 9 p.m. fireworks as part of the Italian Festival   

Surfside Beach
    •    Surfside Beach pier, Surfside Drive and Ocean Boulevard, 9:15 p.m. fireworks with live entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. and free ice cream and watermelon and inflatables for the kids

Murrells Inlet
    •    The 28th Annual July 4th Boat Parade kicks off at 10 am from Garden City Point and proceed to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk and then follow the Murrells Inlet shoreline down to the Hot Fish Club.
    •    Veterans Pier, behind the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet, fireworks begin at 10 p.m.

North Myrtle Beach
    •    Beginning at 1 p.m. on July 4th F-16s of the 77th Fighter Squadron "The Gamblers" of the 20th Fighter Wing stationed at Shaw Air Force Base will conduct a flyover of the South Carolina Coast.
    •    Cherry Grove pier, 3500 N. Ocean Blvd., fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
