The Great Christmas Light Show
North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex

5:30 PM to 9:30 PM through December 31, 2017

The Great Christmas Light Show is a park-wide lighted celebration that is sure to capture the true spirit of the season! The drive through light show will feature over 2 million lights festively displayed along a 1.5 mile drive throughout the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. Over 500 magical light displays, some up to 55 feet tall, have been custom made for The Great Christmas Light Show. Visitors will experience 20 enchanting animated figures and holiday scenes where the lights will come to life. NEW this year, a section of lights come alive to synchronized music. The drive through light show is open nightly November 24 – December 31 (closed Christmas Day).


Local Events Worth Checking Out

Restaurant Week 2018
Restaurants all along the Grand Strand will be participating in Restaurant Week 2018 from January 11-21, 2018. This is a celebration that’s a great opportunity to check out some of the amazing restaurants in the area at discounted prices. Special menus and selections at some of the best restaurants in Myrtle Beach will be available. Participating restaurants include 21 Main at North Beach, Angelo's Steak and Pasta, Aspen Grille, Brentwood Restaurant, Cafe Amalfi, Croissants Bistro, Ducatis Bistro, Ducatis Pizzeria, Fuddruckers, Hook and Barrel, Parson's Table, Ruth's Chris Steak House, The Wicked Tuna, Vintage Twelve, WaterScapes Restaurant.


Thunder & Light featuring All That!
This show features the original choreography by nationally-renowned clogging group All That! A multi-million dollar laser light show it is produced by groundbreaking producer/director Jeffrey Gilmore. The Carolina Opry's Thunder & Light show is a must-see! This live production will get you up close and personal with amazing dancing of All That! — the group that has been features multiple times on "America's Got Talent" and at The Carolina Opry for several years — and features the same multi-colored 5-laser show that toured with Pink Floyd and Madonna. Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art

Come out and celebrate art, food, wine, music, dance, and more at the 27th Annual Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art. The festival will be held Sept. 30-Oct.21, 2017, and includes displays of arts, a wine gala, musical performances and so much more. Performances will take place at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island, SC. Tickets start at $25 for musical events. Pawleys Island Wine & Food Gala tickets are $100.

Where to Rent Kayaks for the Eclipse

If you haven’t made any plans for watching the solar eclipse on August 21 we suggest you consider renting a kayak or canoe and experiencing it from the water. There are many places in the area that are either leading guided tours on that day or are renting kayaks, canoes and paddleboards out for self-guided tours. Following are some worth checking out. Guided Tours with Rentals

Total Solar Eclipse Kayak Tour is being offered by Black River Outdoors at Harris Landing. There will be experts on hand to teach you all the fascinating facts about a solar eclipse. Everyone will have chance to get out on a sandbar to take a rest between paddling. Experience native wildlife like wading herons, egrets, alligators, snakes, etc. An eclipse is known to cause interesting behavior in animals, so you never know what you might see! The tour is suitable for all levels of experience. Price is $100 per person ($75 of the ticket price goes towards the fund to build the exhibits at the Huntington Beach State Park Nature Center). Rover Tours, 735 Front St, Georgetown, is offering a special extended Total Eclipse Cruise departing at 11:30 a.m. and returning at 5:30 p.m. The eclipse will begin on North Island at 1:18 p.m. Totality starts at 2:47 p.m. for a duration of 2 minutes 33 seconds, with the eclipse ending at 4:10 p.m. Mean low tide on the beach will be at 2:20 p.m. Includes a t-shirt or cap, glasses, goodie bag, and a flashlight. Where to Go to Celebrate the 4th of July

If you’re looking for where to celebrate the 4th of July this year, you’ve come to the right place. There are many festivities taking place in the area that are not just about fireworks. Come out and support your country by taking part in all of the local Independence Day celebrations taking place.

6 a.m. 4th of July Independence Day 5k and 8k, Market Common, 4017 Deville Street Myrtle Beach, SC. Join this competitive run in Myrtle Beach. Race begins at 7:30 am. Registration for runners is from 6 a.m.- 7:20 a.m. at the start in Valor Park, Market Common.

2 p.m. July 4th 6th Annual Cupcake Eating Contest, Croissants Bistro & Bakery, 3751 Robert Grissom Parkway Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Competition participants,18 years and older. The winner will be crowned, “Cupcake Champion” of Myrtle Beach. 7 p.m. Kaminski House with Indigo Choral Society, 1003 Front St. Georgetown, SC 29440. Highlights of the concert will include a Color Guard and songs from the American genre, Carolina-themed songs and a salute to our Armed Forces.


Halloween Happenings in Myrtle Beach for 2016

Many people look forward to this time of the year especially children. Whether it’s the dressing up as your favorite super hero or collecting “treats” in your large plastic pumpkin, it’s a tradition that we have all experienced since childhood. These days more people are attending local activities and events around Myrtle Beach than are going trick-or-treating. It seems Halloween is not just about the candy anymore. Check out the following events going on in the local area.

Truck-or-Treat at Broadway at the Beach (near WonderWorks)
On October 22 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. there will be an interactive experience for kids and their families to check out all kinds of trucks including, emergency vehicles, big rigs and more as well as receive their favorite trick-or-treat candies! There will be carousel rides, train rides, a petting zoo and lots more! Horn free hour is from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Not So Spooky Halloween Party
Don’t let the name fool you! Dress up and come to the Character Company Party Place on October 23 from 2-4 p.m. for the best time ever. Tickets are $15 and includes snacks, activities, bounce houses and treat bags. VIP Tickets are $25 and include a private Meet & Greet before the event and a photo with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, too.

Boo Bash at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina
For a safe and fun trick-or-treating alternative join us at Museum Manor on October 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This event is for the youngest ghouls and goblins. Kids are admitted for free and adults are just $5. Admission includes trick-or-treating, themed activities and crafts, the Magic of Science show, and more!

Celebrity Square Halloween
On October 29 come take part in the Monsters Ball Costume party starting at 8 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach.

The Market Common invites families including fur babies to come out and enjoy carriage rides, music and entertainment in front of The Grand 14. There will also be trick or treating from 5- 7 p.m. on October 31.
