Decorate your Vacation Rental for Christmas

Decorate your Vacation Rental for Christmas

It’s hard to believe that Christmas will be here before you know it which means it’s time to decorate your vacation rental. We at Sloan Realty have come up with a small list that will help you get ready for the holidays and decorating your vacation rental. Let’s look below at what you and the family can do to get your rental ready for its guests.

Christmas Tree

Decorate your Vacation Rental for Christmas

One way that you know it’s the holidays is by seeing all the Christmas tree lots around town. But the best part is finding the perfect tree that you want to put inside you vacation rental. If you won’t be staying long at the rental, then you can always get an artificial tree this year to use for years to come. Decorating the tree in a theme is something that many families love to do together.  Whether it’s a beach theme or more traditional, it’s totally up to you on how you want to decorate it.

Decorate the Front Porch

Decorating your home on the outside can seem a little taunting but know that you can still decorate your tastefully. This year’s theme is to decorate your home with simple things that you may already have at home or in your rental. Placing a wreath on your front door or a wooden hanger is what many families are doing. The wreath doesn’t have to be extravagant and can be found at many local retailers. Decorate the front steps of your rental with simple lanterns that have bows on them, and a nice wooden sign helps pull the decorations together. Just enjoy decorating the outside of your rental with the rest of the family.

Add Special Touches

Decorate your Vacation Rental for Christmas

It seems that adding special touches inside your rental will make your guests feel like they are home. Hang a little garland around the doorways and stairs along with placing some decorative boxes along the staircase. Adding some fun throws on the couch or leave cute pillows on the couch can make it feel more like everyone’s home. Wrap a few boxes to leave under the tree as decorations for the whole effect of it being the holidays.

There are many other things that you can do to get ready for the holiday season at your vacation rental this year. These are just a few we suggest that you can do this season for you and your guests. We can’t wait to see you and your family this holiday season as you celebrate Christmas with the family in your vacation rental!

Family Fun Activities for the Beach

Family Fun Activities for the Beach

Going on any vacation is always fun but when you spend it with the ones you love make it better. We at Sloan Realty can tell you that finding fun activities that everyone in the family will love is sometimes a little difficult. When you are staying in the Myrtle Beach area, it’s hard to find a place where you all can have a little fun on the sand. Below are a few of the family fun activities that you can enjoy while enjoying a little sun, water and fun in the sun.

Sand Drizzle Sculptures

Family Fun Activities for the Beach

Have you ever made sand drizzle sculptures when you were a kid? You can either go down close to the water or you can get a bucket of water and add dry sand to it. Then you grab a handful of the wet sand and drizzle it. It can be a lot of fun to kids of all ages and that includes the adults too. As a family you can see who can make the best sculpture and the tallest. It doesn’t matter who the winner will be either because you are all winners!

 Play Hot Potato

This is a classic game that is often played at kid’s parties with a potato or small ball. But since you are at the beach on vacation, then you will want to use something else like say a beach ball. It doesn’t have to be a big beach ball, but one that everyone can pass around quickly enough before the music stops. Be sure to bring a beach ball, a small radio and the family and have a friendly game of “beach” potato!

Build a Sandcastle

Family Fun Activities for the Beach

For many children, building a sandcastle on the beach is what they live for on every vacation. But having the whole family get in on the action of building the biggest and best sandcastle is what everyone wants. Grab a few buckets, shovels and some sandcastle molds and make the best sandcastle that you’ve ever made. Have the kids go and find several shells, driftwood and a few other things they find on the beach for decoration. Just have the best time making the sandcastle or sandcastles together as a family.

Make Art in the Sand

One thing that many children love to do, is to play in the sand. So why not make the sand their art canvas and draw their creations on the beach. They can use a small stick or a shells edge to draw their artwork. Decorate it with shells, sea glass, wood, seaweed and more. Let your child’s imagination run wild while they are enjoying their time at the beach. Take a picture of their artwork with the child standing next to it and one without them. Then when you get back home, get a few copies made of the artwork and frame it for them to remember that trip for years to come.

There are so many other fun things that you and your family can enjoy while on vacation, but we wanted to share these with you. Maximize Your Curb Appeal Before You Sell Your Home

Maximize Your Curb Appeal Before You Sell Your Home

Are you thinking of putting your home on the market this spring? It should not come as a surprise that before you list your home that you need to make it sparkle & shine. After all, prospective buyers will be coming through your home peeking in every nook and cranny to see what kind of space your home offers. But while it’s nice to focus on the inside of the home, you also want the outside of your home to be just as beautiful as the inside. Having the right curb appeal when you place your home on the market can help bring in more potential buyers. We at Sloan Realty have come up with a few easy and inexpensive steps to help maximize your curb appeal before you sell it.

Make Your Home Sparkle on the Outside

Maximize Your Curb Appeal Before You Sell Your Home

Whenever you have a home for sale on the market, you want to make sure that it has that sparkle and shine to it. For many potential home buyers, they want to see your home shine as bright as it can and making sure your driveway is clean is a start. Over the years our driveways can become dirty from dirt, years of driving on them, from grass clippings and more. While repaving may seem like a good option for a few people, it’s not necessary for most. Having someone come out and cleaning your driveway can sometimes be a little costly, but these days you can purchase one for less than $200. You can use the pressure washer to clean the siding on your home as well so this can be a good investment for your current home and your future home.

Tidy Up the Landscaping

Maximize Your Curb Appeal Before You Sell Your Home

While many potential buyers don’t care about what the landscaping looks like, to many it does. If you haven’t tidied up the front beds or don’t have any in front of your home, it’s a must do. It can get pretty costly to redo the landscaping, but we suggest only do a few things to help with the curb appeal. While some front yards may need more than $200 worth of work done, you can get it done for less than that price. We suggest that you do the work yourself or ask a few friends to help, put down some fresh mulch and add some easy-to-care-for plants. If you aren’t too sure which plants would work best for the area, we can suggest a few. Yarrow, Sea Pinks, Daylily’s, Lavender and Silver Beard Grass are all beautiful plants and work well in the climate in the south. Mulch can be your friend when it comes to add a little extra curb appeal to your home.

Decorate Your Porch

Maximize Your Curb Appeal Before You Sell Your Home

Another wonderful way that you can add to your curb appeal is by adding a few easy things to your front porch. If you have a small front porch you can add a few small things to help make it seem larger. Adding a few small planters by the front door or on the steps can help add some color to the house. Maybe changing out the light fixtures can help add a new look to your home as well. Adding a few additional things such as a small bench or a few rocking chairs to it will make the front porch inviting and welcoming to all potential buyers. Add a new welcome mat and an elegant wreath to the front door area to help make it cheerier and inviting.

Freshen up the Front Door

Maximize Your Curb Appeal Before You Sell Your Home

This is one step that many homeowners overlook when they freshen up their curb appeal, the front door. Adding a fresh coat of paint to yours is not only a cheap and easy trick, but it can transform the way your home looks. Leaving that lasting impression on every potential homebuyer is just what you are wanting, so you don’t want to miss this step. Buyers will often times wait outside of the home for a few minutes while their agent is getting the keys out of the lockbox, so they have time to look at the front door. We suggest putting on a coat of paint that will help warm up the home and entry way but will also add to the curb appeal of your home. You can never go wrong with a classic color such as red, black, gray or even a coastal color such as light green or light blue.

While there are many other ways that you can help maximize the curb appeal to your home, these are just a few that we thought you’d enjoy and are affordable. Adding these few easy steps can help bring in more potential buyers and it can help you sell your home more quickly so you can enjoy your new home in the Myrtle Beach area. If you are still looking for the right home or the perfect realtor, please contact us today! We hope that you and your family will be able to sell your home and find a new home in the area.
