Zookeeper for the Day

Have you or one of your kids ever dreamed of becoming a zookeeper in the past? If you have then this is the perfect event for them. Beginning on January 15th through November 18, 2020 every third Wednesday is when this event will be happening at Brookgreen Gardens. This is available for children 12 years old and older and is where they will be able to become a zookeeper for the day. You will get to help with feeding, cleaning and learning about animal care all while you are experiencing this immersive day. Cost for this event is $150 per person but it’s a one of a kind experiences you’ll never have the chance to do in Myrtle Beach!

Art & Music Funk Festival

Do you love to try new beers and love art? If so, then this is the fun event for you and the family. On January 25th, you will be able to head down to Grand Park at Market Common and experience this Art & Music Funk Fest! Here you will be able to try out some craft beer, see art done from local artists and enjoy some amazing music! Plus, there will be new beer released every hour during the festival. The time to head down to the park is going to be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and is one you won’t want to miss!

October is a fun month to come to the Myrtle Beach area as there are so many things for you and your family to do. Barefoot Landing Pumpkin Patch

Barefoot Landing will have their very own Pumpkin Patch this year for you and your family to come gather your pumpkins for your vacation. Pumpkins are in several different sizes this year and will only accept cash this year. They will be donating $1 from each pumpkin sold to go help with the hurricane and flood relief efforts in our community. The pumpkins available are small for $3, medium for $8, large for $10, extra-large for $12 and Specialty for $15. And there will be live music every Friday & Saturday night from 6 pm to 9 pm. Don’t miss this great and fun activity with your family this year!

Candy in the Corn Trick or Treat Trail

Enjoy These Fun October Events in Myrtle Beach

Every Saturday beginning on October 13th through the 27th, Thompson Farms will have their own trick or treating in a corn field. Dress the kids up in their Halloween costumes and they will have a chance to wind through a special kid-sized corn maze to find their own treats. And if you think that is all the fun, your kids will get to meet Pippa the Pumpkin Princess, Will the Witch, the Chick-Fil-A Cow and many other fun characters. This will run from 1pm – 2 pm and is included in the general admission price of $13.50 for the kids and $15.50 for the adults!

BooFest! at Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is having their BooFest! again this year. Here they will be hosting a kids’ and pets costume contest on Saturday, October 27th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There will be prizes awarded for the best costumes for the kids and pets. They will also have live entertainment and activities for everyone to be a part of. Don’t miss out on this event because who doesn’t want to see cute pets in costumes?

Trick or Treating on Halloween

If you are vacationing during the week of Halloween, then you are coming for the fun. On Wednesday, October 31st you can go trick or treating at several locations. If you’d like to go to North Myrtle Beach, then head over to Barefoot Landing where your kids can get some treats. Beginning at 5 pm you and your family are invited to visit shops and restaurants to go trick or treating ending at 7 pm. If you’d like to try other places, then head to The Market Common and Broadway at the Beach to take advantage of getting treats for your kids.

Where to Go to Celebrate the 4th of July

If you’re looking for where to celebrate the 4th of July this year, you’ve come to the right place. There are many festivities taking place in the area that are not just about fireworks. Come out and support your country by taking part in all of the local Independence Day celebrations taking place.

6 a.m. 4th of July Independence Day 5k and 8k, Market Common, Hackler Street, Myrtle Beach, SC. Join this competitive run in Myrtle Beach. Race begins at 7:30 am. Registration for runners is from 6 a.m.- 7:20 a.m. at the start in Valor Park, Market Common.

2 p.m. Garden City Golf Cart Parade, Calhoun Dr. (behind Willards Fireworks), 717 15th Ave. S., Surfside Beach, SC. Annual parade to celebrate Independence Day!

10 a.m. Annual 4th of July Parade, Pawleys Island, 321 Myrtle Avenue, Pawleys Island, SC. Decorate your golf cart, car, boat, truck bed — anything that can be turned into a patriotic display for 4th of July.

1 p.m. Special Event! Salute from the Shore on the 4th! Be on the beach and watch the Shaw AFB F-16s from 20th Fighter Wing fly from Cherry Grove along the 60 miles of Myrtle Beach coast! 6 – 10 p.m. Surfside Beach Celebration, Surfside Drive, Surfside Beach, SC. Surfside Beach Pier will have music and fireworks. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. with musical entertainment by “Garth & Friends”. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Concessions and 4th of July T-shirts will be available for sale.

The Great Christmas Light Show

The Great Christmas Light Show is a park-wide lighted celebration that is sure to capture the true spirit of the season! The drive through light show will feature over 2 million lights festively displayed along a 1.5 mile drive throughout the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. Over 500 magical light displays, some up to 55 feet tall, have been custom made for The Great Christmas Light Show. Visitors will experience 20 enchanting animated figures and holiday scenes where the lights will come to life. NEW this year, a section of lights come alive to synchronized music. The drive through light show is open nightly November 24 – December 31 (closed Christmas Day).

Restaurant Week 2018
Restaurants all along the Grand Strand will be participating in Restaurant Week 2018 from January 11-21, 2018. This is a celebration that’s a great opportunity to check out some of the amazing restaurants in the area at discounted prices. This show features the original choreography by nationally-renowned clogging group All That! A multi-million dollar laser light show it is produced by groundbreaking producer/director Jeffrey Gilmore. The Carolina Opry's Thunder & Light show is a must-see! This live production will get you up close and personal with amazing dancing of All That! — the group that has been features multiple times on "America's Got Talent" and at The Carolina Opry for several years — and features the same multi-colored 5-laser show that toured with Pink Floyd and Madonna. Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art

Come out and celebrate art, food, wine, music, dance, and more at the 27th Annual Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art. The festival will be held Sept. 30-Oct.21, 2017, and includes displays of arts, a wine gala, musical performances and so much more. Performances will take place at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island, SC. Tickets start at $25 for musical events. Pawleys Island Wine & Food Gala tickets are $100.

Where to Rent Kayaks for the Eclipse

If you haven’t made any plans for watching the solar eclipse on August 21 we suggest you consider renting a kayak or canoe and experiencing it from the water. There are many places in the area that are either leading guided tours on that day or are renting kayaks, canoes and paddleboards out for self-guided tours. Following are some worth checking out. Total Solar Eclipse Kayak Tour is being offered by Black River Outdoors at Harris Landing. There will be experts on hand to teach you all the fascinating facts about a solar eclipse. Everyone will have chance to get out on a sandbar to take a rest between paddling. Experience native wildlife like wading herons, egrets, alligators, snakes, etc. An eclipse is known to cause interesting behavior in animals, so you never know what you might see! The tour is suitable for all levels of experience. Price is $100 per person ($75 of the ticket price goes towards the fund to build the exhibits at the Huntington Beach State Park Nature Center). Rover Tours, 735 Front St, Georgetown, is offering a special extended Total Eclipse Cruise departing at 11:30 a.m. and returning at 5:30 p.m. The eclipse will begin on North Island at 1:18 p.m. Totality starts at 2:47 p.m. for a duration of 2 minutes 33 seconds, with the eclipse ending at 4:10 p.m. Mean low tide on the beach will be at 2:20 p.m. Includes a t-shirt or cap, glasses, goodie bag, and a flashlight. Halloween Happenings in Myrtle Beach for 2016

Many people look forward to this time of the year especially children. Whether it’s the dressing up as your favorite super hero or collecting “treats” in your large plastic pumpkin, it’s a tradition that we have all experienced since childhood. These days more people are attending local activities and events around Myrtle Beach than are going trick-or-treating. It seems Halloween is not just about the candy anymore. Check out the following events going on in the local area.

Truck-or-Treat at Broadway at the Beach (near WonderWorks)
On October 22 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. there will be an interactive experience for kids and their families to check out all kinds of trucks including, emergency vehicles, big rigs and more as well as receive their favorite trick-or-treat candies! There will be carousel rides, train rides, a petting zoo and lots more! Horn free hour is from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Not So Spooky Halloween Party
Don’t let the name fool you! Dress up and come to the Character Company Party Place on October 23 from 2-4 p.m. for the best time ever. Tickets are $15 and includes snacks, activities, bounce houses and treat bags. VIP Tickets are $25 and include a private Meet & Greet before the event and a photo with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, too.

Boo Bash at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina
For a safe and fun trick-or-treating alternative join us at Museum Manor on October 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This event is for the youngest ghouls and goblins. Kids are admitted for free and adults are just $5. Admission includes trick-or-treating, themed activities and crafts, the Magic of Science show, and more!

Celebrity Square Halloween
On October 29 come take part in the Monsters Ball Costume party starting at 8 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach.
